FIMIC has been known for 25 years as the specialists in automatic self-cleaning melt filters. This Italian company is the only one in the market with a range of five different models of automatic melt filters, capable to target highly contaminated plastic materials, especially post-industrial and post-consumer plastics. The FIMIC melt filters can be installed on all extruder types, makes and models. They can be installed on your new extruder or retrofitted to your existing extruder for superior filter performance and end product quality.

The continuous research for innovation and passion for improvement, keep FIMIC constantly growing and developing innovative technologies and tailored solutions in an increasingly demanding market, launching in 2021 the SPA, a screw pump that allows to easily transport plastic melt from the extruder to the filter without using gears offering a superior, reliable, and high-performance product.

RAS

RAS is the FIMIC melt filter that can manage any contamination level, guaranteeing a reduced quantity of waste and low maintenance costs.
RAS can be adapted to your specific requirements, like the type of plastic material to be filtered, hourly production rate, filtration level and type of contamination.

How does it work?

- Two blades scrape the contamination collected by the filter, while the scraper traps it inside it and then, automatically discharges what it has collected via the front valve.

- It is possible to decide the pressure mode by setting it on the touchscreen. When this has been reached, the scraper, rotating at an adjustable speed, collects the contamination inside it, opening the front valve only when the cycle is complete.

- In case of large amounts of contamination, the continuous mode can be selected, and the scraper will continue to slowly scrape the screen.

ERA

The evolution of RAS, the product that made our name famous worldwide, ERA represents the new generation of melt filters, pushing technology to the highest levels. Not only does it let you process higher contamination levels, it also guarantees a consistent reduction in consumption thanks to the double filter, designed for all materials which require two filtration steps. This results in a significant cut in costs because an initial double investment is not required, whilst guaranteeing an excellent, top-quality end result.

How does it work?

-Two internal filtration chambers and two independent discharge valves, which, therefore, allow you to choose a coarser filtration at the first step and a finer one at the second.

- This means that the less expensive punched screens, from 400 to 2000 micron, protect the laser screens, from 80 to 300 micron, positioned as the second step. As a result, there is a significant reduction in costs, even from an energy point of view.

GEM

GEM combines the power of RAS, FIMIC’s superior filter, with the winning idea of the ERA double filter. The result is an exclusive technology which combines two identical Ø 600 or Ø 700 screens, two scrapers and two valves, achieving a surface area of 5.552 cm² and 7.592 cm²: the largest in the world on a single machine!

How does it work?

- Unlike RAS, this model achieves a greater surface area through two screens towards which the plastic material flows, in combination with two scrapers and two independent discharge valves.

- The two blades scrape the contamination collected on the screen, while the scrapers trap them inside and then, automatically discharge what they have collected via the valves.

- The pressure mode is set on the touch screen, while the scrapers rotate at an adjustable speed, collecting the contamination inside them and the valves open only when the cycle is complete.

TEN

TEN allows you to filter constantly on woven mesh, eliminating build-ups of material and drops in production rates with the additional option of adjusting the screen output. Choosing TEN means you are looking for a new ally in the world of mesh filtration, to guarantee not only superior quality post-industrial material, but also an ally to eliminate the constant presence of the operator, thus facilitating daily work.

How does it work?

- A small scraper near the screen collects most of the dirt and prevents it from breaking when it is changed. The filtering surface, measuring 1,590 cm², allows a low working pressure and thus excludes the risk of quality losses.

- The possibility of adjusting the speed of the screen change, by setting a pressure which when reached causes the screen to be automatically changed, allows the work process to be adapted to the material being filtered.

- The screen is marketed with a minimum filtration of 60 microns/230 mesh. But TEN can adapt to inferior filtrations as well, fast opening when needed is also guaranteed, without the use of special tools or manual skills, because FIMIC also supplies a pneumatic screwdriver at the time of purchase.

RAS+REF

Improved by the option of working in backflush as well.
RAS+REF is a filter which allows you to work with two different systems: either by scraping or with backflush, thus offering an extra option to anyone who wants to treat materials with mesh screens too.

How does it work?

- The same melt filter used for scraping can also be used for backflush filtration when needed. Just replace the three inner components and select the correct system from the touchscreen.

- It will be like having two filters in one: REF is perfect for processing post-industrial waste, thus guaranteeing mesh filtration, but also the possibility of using all the advanced technology and incomparable features of the RAS filter which allows you to process any type of material.
